Customer Reviews
Ok I did not obtain this on Amazon, I got it at a local expo show and paid a small extra but it is the identical heli. This is a extremely nice helicopter and regardless of other reviews appears to be really durable. To give an example I have crashed various times, which includes into the ground, into a tree, a telephone pole, a steel automotive lift (the items that lift automobiles in mechanic shops), while I have a few dents and dings in the rotors they are still solid and it still flies. The balance bar bent as nicely but I just bent it back and all is nicely. I would call that quite fine thinking of some of the much more high dollar helis like my friend has the rotor will shatter upon speak to with a solid surface.
There is a learning curve to flying this. Just considering that it is a gyro copter, dont assume that you can just take it out and fly with out crashing. I had a difficult time acquiring off the ground for the first day, ground effect came in and produced it go left every time. After some practice and messing with the trim tabs on day 2 I got definitely fantastic at it. It is affected by wind but ALL helicopters are. This is to comprise of real helicopters. Not one thing I frequently bring up but in this case it may possibly assist, I use to be on a flight line with the AH-64A and AH-64D on a common basis, I also worked on the guidance systems and weapons. Wind has a dramatic affect on a massive heli so smaller winds can and will knock an RC to the ground. To start off finding out either do it on a day with no wind or get a fitness center/auditorium to start off.
Battery time is not bad, I get about 15 minutes per charge, it takes about two.five hrs to recharge the battery. I just ordered five significantly more batteries here on amazon so that I can get about an hour or extra of play time prior to getting to wait on a charge. General I am satisfied with the buy and really am going to get one for my buddy who paid over 400 on his Pro heli that is too tough to get off the ground. I figure use these a mastering tool then get to the larger even more advanced four - 6 channel helis.
Once again just a suggestion, but get fine with it at about 1.5 - two ft off the ground initial. Its tougher to fly closer to the ground due to the fact of ground effects so if you can get fantastic close to the ground you must have no concerns higher in the air.
For the value, you essentially get a fairly decent piece of hardware. That getting said, there are a few modifications I would make prior to use. It says prepared to fly on the box, and fly it will... how nicely is undoubtedly open to debate. The initial issue is to get rid of the canopy, loosen the battery, and slide it most of the way forward, then tighten the mounting bracket down again. This will move the center of gravity forward. This is essential since without having doing this, you literally cannot fly forwards. Other mods to raise maneuverability are to shorten the tail boom, slide the landing skids forward (easy), and replace the rear tail rotor with one of these: [...]
Following replacing the rear rotor you will have to move the rear stabilizers up on the boom to make space for the bigger blades.
An additional mod that helps a lot is to replace the battery with a larger a single, like a 15c 7.4v 3000mah. This also improves the flight characteristics by escalating weight in the nose, and more than all (less likely to be batted about by the wind)
Make positive to purchase a complete set of replacement parts. You will have to have them... the helicopter is difficult, dont get be incorrect (I have crashed from 40+ feet with small to no damage) but there are breakable parts like the blade holders. (they are affordable, decide to purchase a hand full)
And here is a link to a forum which has a lot of good info about how to make this beneficial little chopper a good a single. For the cost, its actually a excellent deal.

A lot of folks seem to knock this helicopter due to the fact they do not ever want to operate on it. That's part of the hobby... Improving and repairing the gear. Its not all that complex, and the parts are Low cost, which is a boon. There are several 'hobby grade' helicopters out there you could invest a lot additional revenue on that almost certainly fly greater and so on... but the price of maintainability goes WAY up. Look at that for an initial investment of ~$60 its very a hoot.
