Buyer Testimonials
Ok I did not buy this on Amazon, I got it at a nearby expo show and paid a tiny extra but it is the identical heli. This is a extremely great helicopter and in spite of other evaluations appears to be pretty durable. To give an example I have crashed several occasions, including into the ground, into a tree, a telephone pole, a steel automotive lift (the things that lift vehicles in mechanic shops), when I have a few dents and dings in the rotors they are still solid and it still flies. The balance bar bent as well but I just bent it back and all is properly. I would call that pretty excellent contemplating some of the far more high dollar helis like my friend has the rotor will shatter upon make contact with with a solid surface.
There is a finding out curve to flying this. Just considering it is a gyro copter, dont think that you can just take it out and fly with out crashing. I had a challenging time finding off the ground for the initial day, ground effect came in and made it go left each time. Following some practice and messing with the trim tabs on day two I got seriously fantastic at it. It is affected by wind but ALL helicopters are. This is to involve actual helicopters. Not one thing I usually bring up but in this case it may well help, I use to be on a flight line with the AH-64A and AH-64D on a standard basis, I also worked on the guidance systems and weapons. Wind has a dramatic impact on a significant heli so small winds can and will knock an RC to the ground. To start off mastering either do it on a day with no wind or get a gym/auditorium to start.
Battery time is not poor, I get about 15 minutes per charge, it takes about 2.five hrs to recharge the battery. I just ordered 5 even more batteries right here on amazon so that I can get about an hour or way more of play time just before having to wait on a charge. Overall I am happy with the acquire and essentially am going to get 1 for my buddy who paid over 400 on his Pro heli that is also difficult to get off the ground. I figure use these a understanding tool then get to the larger a lot more advanced 4 - 6 channel helis.
Once more just a suggestion, but get good with it at about 1.five - 2 ft off the ground 1st. Its harder to fly closer to the ground mainly because of ground effects so if you can get fine close to the ground you need to have no problems greater in the air.
For the price, you really get a quite decent piece of hardware. That getting stated, there are a couple of modifications I would make ahead of use. It says prepared to fly on the box, and fly it will... how properly is unquestionably open to debate. The initial point is to get rid of the canopy, loosen the battery, and slide it most of the way forward, then tighten the mounting bracket down again. This will move the center of gravity forward. This is crucial because with out performing this, you literally cannot fly forwards. Other mods to increase maneuverability are to shorten the tail boom, slide the landing skids forward (very easy), and replace the rear tail rotor with one particular of these: [...]
Just after replacing the rear rotor you will have to move the rear stabilizers up on the boom to make room for the larger blades.
Yet another mod that helps a lot is to replace the battery with a larger 1, like a 15c 7.4v 3000mah. This also improves the flight characteristics by escalating weight in the nose, and more than all (less likely to be batted about by the wind)
Make confident to obtain a complete set of replacement parts. You will require them... the helicopter is tough, dont get be incorrect (I have crashed from 40+ feet with tiny to no damage) but there are breakable components like the blade holders. (they are inexpensive, purchase a hand full)
And right here is a link to a forum which has a lot of superior info about how to make this great small chopper a good a single. For the value, its actually a terrific deal.

A lot of consumers seem to knock this helicopter simply because they don't ever want to perform on it. That's portion of the hobby... Improving and repairing the gear. Its not all that complicated, and the components are Low-cost, which is a boon. There are quite a few 'hobby grade' helicopters out there you could invest a lot more cash on that quite possibly fly superior etc... but the price of maintainability goes WAY up. Look into that for an initial investment of ~$60 its very a hoot.
